Upcycling My Morning Matcha: The Strawberry Jam Jar Latte You Need to Try

Matcha basically runs through my veins at this point. Some people need coffee to function — I used to be one of those — but now? I bleed matcha!
This week, I decided to switch up my usual morning matcha routine with a fun, eco-friendly, no-food-waste twist: I used the last bit of my Bonne Maman strawberry jam to create the ultimate spring-inspired iced matcha latte.
If you’re not familiar, Bonne Maman is the gold standard of jam — beloved by the French (so you know it's good). They offer everything from apricot to blackberry, and even a spread similar to Nutella. Personally, I’m a loyal fan of their traditional strawberry jam. Plus, their adorable cottage-chic glass jars are almost too pretty to throw away.
When I noticed my jar was running low, with just that sweet, syrupy residue clinging to the sides, I thought: why waste it? Why not upcycle it into my matcha cup for the day? Perfect for spring and even better for avoiding food waste.
Here's exactly what I did:
I poured in my milk of choice (currently experimenting with a super clean soy milk — trying to cut back on oat milk even though it tastes so good).
You can use whatever milk you like — regular, almond, coconut — it'll all taste amazing.
Then I closed the lid and gave it a good shake to loosen up all that delicious jam stuck to the sides.
After shaking, I used my milk frother to make it nice and creamy.
Finally, I poured in my prepared matcha and added a few ice cubes.
And ohhh my gosh — the result was the best strawberry iced matcha latte ever. Sweet, fruity, earthy, and totally refreshing.
Trust me: your morning matcha (or even your coffee) will thank you later. Plus, you’ll feel a little bit like a chic French environmentalist while you’re at it.
